Written Furniture Warranty- Get Them In Writing

Category: Finance, Real Estate.

Unless you live in an RV, you need furniture for your home. Here are some tips as well as some advice on caring for it.

Buying furniture is all about understanding what you are getting into. Dealer Negotiated Furniture Discounts- Dealers mark up their furniture something fierce. Just ask them! If you want to get a better deal, it is not particularly difficult. If that fails, offer to pay in cash and watch their eyes light up. Lay down on it in the store just like you would at home. Trying Out New Mattress- You are going to sleep on the mattress for a long time.

Lay there for 10 minutes or so to make sure it does the trick. Price does not mean quality. Mattress Pricing- The price of a mattress is reflective of only one thing- what they store thinks they can get for it. Written Furniture Warranty- Get them in writing! If your furniture warranty is not in writing, the store is not required to do anything if you have problems. Promises from sales people or managers are worthless.

MDF Labels- Look out for MDF on furniture labels. Furniture Shipping Fees- Make sure you understand in detail what you are paying for with furniture shipping fees. While the salesperson may be trying to tell you it is solid wood, MDF means it is medium density fiberboard. Does it include delivery into the home and placement in a room? Stripping Furniture Finish- If you are a do it yourself kind of person, you need to know what you are getting into. What if the room is upstairs?

Stripping the finish off furniture sometimes does not get rid of the color. Heating Vents and Leather- Do not place your leather furniture around heating vents. Make sure you know before spending the time. They will dry the leather out. Ah, but you can hide them. Hiding Furniture Scratches- Scratches in your furniture can be absolutely maddening. Try a padding lacquer. 1Potpourri and Furniture- As strange as it may sound, potpourri will destroy the finish on your furniture.

To effectively buy furniture, you need to be able to do some mental imaging. Don t even sit the bag on it. A piece in a store may look great, but will it look good in your home? The answer may be no, so make sure to visualize before buying.
